The two birds are for my two sisters, my parents and, if I ever get married, me and my spouse. They remind me that while birds of a feather flock together, it’s ok to not follow the traditions of your family. It’s ok to be your own person. The word Lucky is in my Mother’s handwriting. She had me when she was 18 and didn’t get an abortion. I’m lucky that I have a Mom who loves me. She didn’t give up on her career, she married a wonderful guy who adopted me when I was four. I’ve had a wonderful life and I don’t want to forget it. The anchor is to keep me humble. My best friends keeps me grounded and honest. She might get an anchor when she turns 18. It’s all a reminder to be myself, and stay true to my family.
